Kara Branch is the Founder and CEO of Black Girls Do Engineer Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in June 2019 and headquartered in Houston, TX. As an innovator, motivator, and trailblazer, Kara is passionate about creating pathways for the next generation of STEM leaders.
An alumna of Prairie View A&M University, Kara holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and an Executive MBA. She founded Black Girls Do Engineer based on her personal experiences navigating the STEM industry and her eldest daughter inspiration, and often wishing she had a mentor who looked like her to guide her journey.
Kara began her career stepping directly into boardrooms with her calculator in hand, leading clients through grassroots design projects. Over her six-year engineering career, she has successfully managed 15+ multimillion-dollar improvement projects in the Oil & Gas sector. She has also made her mark in the Aerospace Industry and later served as an Engineering Manager in Tech for a Fortune 100 company. Her expertise and leadership continue to inspire and pave the way for young Black women in STEM.
